Still Rippling Away

I have still been working away at this ripple, I do not need the heating on when I am working on it and now it is keeping my feet warm.  The first photograph was the last time I shared it.  I am rippling whenever I can and it is highly addictive.  To the detriment of  housework and other projects!  Today I rippled in the car when I was waiting for the school bell to ring for Euan.  I am finding it quite tricky to photograph now.  I had to chase the dog off it just before I took this update:

Not a very good photograph, I know!  I think I like the colours...if I don't think too much about them.  The kids still like it and the dog loves it.   Today to my horror she was pawing it!  I don't usually have to tell her off but she refused to stop pawing it and treading on it while I was trying to work on it, so I had to do a cross 'No!'   If she ladders it or puts a whole in it I will be upset!   I made Euan a Granny Square blanket when he was five as he had some surgery on his foot and needed a wheelchair,  he was thrilled with it and had it on his lap as soon as I gave it to him.  Unfortunately he was cutting and sticking craft stuff at the table and promptly snipped a good size hole in it about five minutes after I gave it to him.   It got darned and it is still much loved and in regular use.
Also you may remember this post These Granny Square Photographs May Cause Distress!  I hope to have more luck with the ripple and I can't wait to be using it on the sofa to watch movies at the weekend.  It is definitely a 'snuggle up with Mom blanket'.  The dog thinks so anyway.

How to make 'Hot Port' - For Medicinal Purposes!

This Slice of  Lemon is waiting patiently in the bottom of a glass, it is looking very pretty with each segment stuck with a whole clove and delicious golden 'Local' Honey drizzled over it.  The Honey is from the Malvern Hills.

Poor Tickety Boo, was feeling unwell with the sniffles.  She was after some 'Hot Port' for medicinal purposes as she is celebrating something special at the weekend and needs to be well.  She mentioned her hubby had very kindly been out for supplies for her.  I have never heard of 'Hot Port' but as I had some Port within arms reach I thought I should 'Google' and see what it is all about.

I don't want anymore sniffles right now so I am consuming this as a medicinal preventative.  I came across several recipes, so I will make it my duty to undertake some research into the tastiest recipe.  The first recipe I tried was very simple.  A slice of lemon, stuck with whole cloves, a spoonful of honey, 25% port and 75% hot water.  I can also recommend a 50%-50% ratio of Port to hot water.  It worked very well indeed.  It went down a treat, as it says on the bottle it was an indulgence, perfect for this time of year.  I love the scent and flavour of cloves.   I am about to climb the 'Apples and pears' and I am sure it will not be long before I am in a deep slumber.  I have been making loads of typo's writing this but...I am not a thunk as dreople pink! I have got rosy cheeks and a very warm glow!  Night Night.

Over at A Trifle Rushed a delicious 'Banana and Ginger Tea Loaf' has created.  I have made many a banana loaf and I don't know why I didn't think to add ginger.  I will definitely be trying this soon and I can already feel it is going to be a winner.  A Trifle Rushed also mentions an 'Invitation to Tea', some fantastic blog networking where Karen at Lavender and Lovage and Kate at What Kate Baked are hosting a:

I know many of us also love to bake and more importantly eat!  This months 'Tea Time Treat' theme  is 'Ginger and Bonfire Treats' and it is hosted by Karen.  Read more about it here:

I thought my recipe for Ginger Beer Scones fits the bill perfectly.
These are so quick and easy and delicious warm with a drizzle of honey.

Blogtag - You're 'IT' !

I read about 'Blogtag' first Here at The Quince Tree.  It seemed like an interesting idea I would love to read other  'Blogtag' posts too.  I tend to dump a post and run....  I have been meaning to welcome new followers and thank you lovely folks for all your comments for ages.  I still get a buzz out of all your comments, I really enjoy reading them and many give me a chuckle.  I also learn a lot from networking on blogs :)  Blog Buddies are the best, they take up no room on the sofa, don't mind if my house is a tip and never use up any teabags :)  I am slowly watching my 'counter' work its way up to 50 000 hits, which is amazing.  I am fascinated by my flag counter and looking at the countries blog visitors come from.  At the last peep it was 97 different countries.  My very bestest favourite is 'new followers' ( It makes me feel very flattered :) and big headed! )  It also motivates me to post more of my random musings.  Every time I get a 'new follower' I am very self congratulatory and do a little happy dance.  Modest?  Moi?
