As a child I had to learn this poem off by heart at school, needless to say I can't remember it now! For oft I lie on my couch in a vacant or pensive mood! ( Some may say a little too oft!)
"Daffodils" (1804)
I WANDER'D lonely as a cloud
- That floats on high o'er vales and hills,
- A host, of golden daffodils;
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.
Continuous as the stars that shine
- And twinkle on the Milky Way,
- Along the margin of a bay:
Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.
The waves beside them danced; but they
- Out-did the sparkling waves in glee:
- In such a jocund company:
What wealth the show to me had brought:
For oft, when on my couch I lie
- In vacant or in pensive mood,
- Which is the bliss of solitude;
And dances with the daffodils.
- By William Wordsworth (1770-1850).
I adore knitted flowers, there is something very special about them dont you think ? :)
ReplyDeleteI love that poem too. Daffodils are just so cheering and bright aren't they. I have a book of knitted and crochet flowers,but can't knit at the moment because of Tendonitis, boohoo :(
ReplyDeleteIf you're taking on projects, I'll take a vase of knitted red tulips please ;)
ReplyDeleteOh my! Crocheted daffies! I am so impressed by you knitter/crochet types.
